On June 8, 2023, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Bulgaria Željko Jović and the Defence Attaché of the Republic of Serbia in Bulgaria Željko Simić, attended this year's live shooting of targets in the airspace at the training ground "Shabla" in the Republic of Bulgaria "Shabla-2023", which was, after training, carried out by members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Bulgarian Army.

The official delegation of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army, which attended the event, was led by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Nemanja Starović.

The demonstration combat shooting was preceded by the preparations of combat units for anti-aircraft operations at the "Shabla" training ground and members of the aviation units at the "Balchik" airport, with the aim of improving the overall ability of the Air Force and Air Defense units to protect the airspace of the Republic of Serbia and the opportunity for members of these units to be familiarized in practice with the possibilities of the military equipment and weapons of the Serbian Armed Forces. Target shooting was carried out from the "Neva" and "Kub" missile systems, as well as with Mi-17 and Mi-24 combat helicopters, and "Mig 29" combat aircraft from the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Serbian Army.

The successful shooting of targets by members of the Serbian and Bulgarian army was congratulated by the Chief of Defense of the Bulgarian Army, Admiral Emil Eftimov, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Nemanja Starović, Assistant Minister for Defense Policy Predrag Bandić and the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Bulgaria, Željko Jović.
