On May 19, 2023, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Bulgaria and other Bulgarian institutions, the President of the Municipal Council of Blagoevgrad, R. Taskov, representatives of the BPC, honorary consuls accredited in Bulgaria, as well as a large number of residents of the mentioned city, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Serbia was officially opened, headed by the Honorary Consul, Mr. Mitko Solakov.


The Consulate was officially opened by Ambassador Željko Jović, Mayor of Blagoevgrad, Ilko Stoyanov and Honorary Consul, M. Solakov. In his speech, Ambassador Jović expressed his great satisfaction for the opening, adding that the Honorary Consulate was opened with the joint engagement of both parties, and that this is the proof of the firm commitment of the two countries to continue in the same direction, to deepen their ties even more, promote cooperation and contribute to the creation of a stable, safe and economically prosperous region through joint efforts. He assessed that the work and dedicated engagement of the Honorary Consul will contribute to the development and strengthening of cooperation, primarily in the fields of culture, economy and tourism.

In addition to the above, the Ambassador conveyed to those present the expectation that the premises of the consulate will be accessible to everyone, not only to friends from the world of politics and business, but also to ordinary people. After the ceremonial opening, a cultural and artistic program was performed by the Pirin folklore ensemble.
