Today, not far from border crossing "Kalotina", a solemn ceremony was held to put into use 6.5 kilometers of highway, on the first section of the highway "Europa", border crossing Kalotina - Dragoman. This act was attended by Ambassador Ž. Jović, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, G. Donev, Minister for Regional Development and Public Works, I. Shishkov, director of the "Customs" Agency, P. Gerenski, as well as numerous other dignitaries and public figures.

The entire section on the Dragoman - Kalotina section will be put into traffic by the end of May this year, while the construction of the last section of the highway between Sofia and Slivnica should begin in about twenty days and be completed by the end of 2024.

In a statement to the Bulgarian media, Ambassador Jović pointed out that he is particularly happy as the Serbian ambassador, because this highway directly connects Serbia and Bulgaria. He also expressed his belief that the highway itself will contribute to the further development of bilateral relations between the two countries in all spheres, as well as to the strengthening of social ties between Serbian citizens, including Serbian citizens of Bulgarian origin, with Bulgaria and the citizens of Bulgaria.
