On the 20th of March, in the vicinity of the town Dobroslavci in Bulgaria, an inspection of the works on the construction of the gas interconnector Bulgaria-Serbia (IBS) was carried out, led by the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria, R. Hristov, and attended by Ambassador Ž. Jović.

On the Bulgarian side, the inspection of the works was attended by the executive director of "Bulgartransgaz", Mr. V. Malinov, Head of the cabinet for political affairs in the Ministry of  Energy, Ms. Y. Gancheva, General manager and member of the Supervisory Council of  "Glavbolgarstroj Holding AD", Mr. K. Peshov, Executive director of the "Glavbolgarstroy International AD", Mr. K. Kisev, while from the Serbian side, the event was attended by a Senior adviser in the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. T. Radukić, Manager of the IBS interconnector construction project at the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. A. Marcetić, and the representative of the company "Srbijagas", Ms. Lj. Topalović.

The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria, V. Malinov, and the Executive director of the “Glavbolgarstroy", K. Kisev informed the attendees about the progress of the construction works on the Bulgarian section of the IBS construction. According to them, the work is progressing faster than planned, and the completion of the project is expected before October 2023, (complete installation of pipes and testing is planned to be realized during July and August 2023.)

Mr. V. Malinov emphasized the importance of building the IBS in order to achieve energy diversification, increase energy security and market development of the two countries and the importance of the gas interconnector which will enable the delivery of gas from Azerbaijan and the Caspian region and connect Serbia with TAP and TANAP.
