Ambassador Jović, together with the Mayor of Leskovac, Goran Cvetanović, and the director of Tourist organization of Leskovac, Nebojša Kocić, visited one of the biggest European carnivals, the Carnival of Surva in Pernik.

The winter custom of Surva is characteristic of mid-western Bulgaria, especially in the villages around Pernik, Breznik, Zemen, Radomir and Trna. The participants in New Year's Survar carnival are Survar masquerade groups, that dance and sing in villages tours.

Today, almost every village in Pernik has its own masquerade group, numbering from 50 to even 200 participants. All are masked, wear bells of different sizes and dance to a specific rhythm. This year, the carnival gathered over 10,000 participants, including 15 groups from abroad. The Republic of Serbia was represented by Cultural society Radost from Belgrade, majorettes from Bela Crkva and a masquerade group from Leskovac.
