The Regional Ministerial Meeting on Energy Security, Diversification and Green Transition was held in Sofia on May 5, 2022.


The meeting was opened by the PM of the Republic of Bulgaria, K. Petkov, and the hosts were the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria, A. Nikolov and Deputy PM and Minister of Finance A. Vasilev.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the European Commission's Energy Directorate, Ditte Juul Jorgensen, as well as the Ministers of Energy of the region, K. Skrekas from Greece, V. Popesku from Romania, K. Bekteshi from R. of |North Macedonia, P. Shahbazov from Azerbaijan, G. Galushchenko from Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Energy of Turkey, A. Bayraktar, and on behalf of the delegation of the Republic of Serbia, Deputy PM and the Minister of Mining and Energy, Z. Mihajlović.
During the three panel sessions, the topics were focused on security of gas supply, regional gas infrastructure and supply chains. Also, the current state of integration of the regional electricity market and the possibilities of its connection with the European market were discussed, as well as the challenges that the "European Green Deal" is facing.
At the end of the panels, agreements and declarations on cooperation between Bulgaria and countries in the region were signed, as well as an agreement between Bulgatransgas EAD and International Gas for a working project, delivery of necessary materials, construction and opening of the interconnector between Serbia and Bulgaria, on Bulgarian territory. The signing ceremony of the said Agreement was attended by the Deputy PM of the Republic of Serbia, Z. Mihajlović and  Ambassador, Ž. Jović.
