On the day when the International Women's Day is celebrated, March 8, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, along with several women's organizations from Bulgaria, organized a Conference in Sofia, on Domestic and community violence - Prevention and defence mechanisms.

    Current trends in society, were discussed, especially those with a negative connotation and in connection with the dramatic increase in violence against women. In this regard, it was pointed out, that there is a need for further joint work on finding ways to ensure not only adequate protection of women but also the creation of a social climate that would contribute to reducing all deviant phenomena when it comes to violence against women.

      The organizers of the Conference welcomed Ambassador Jović, as a representative of the Republic of Serbia, which is among the first signatories of the Istanbul Convention. The conference was attended by the highest representatives of the police and judiciary authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as the Ombudsman and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria.
