Today in Plovdiv, in the presence of officials from several Bulgarian institutions, representatives of municipalities and dozens of ambassadors and consuls general accredited in Bulgaria, the Consulate of the Republic of Serbia, which will be headed by the Honorary Consul, Mrs. Anastasia Solakova was officially opened.
The consulate was officially opened by Ambassador Željko Jović and the Mayor of Plovdiv, Zdravko Dimitrov. In his address, Ambassador Jović pointed out his great satisfaction with this act, because this is the first consulate of Serbia, which will be headed by an honorary consul, and which is open on the territory of Bulgaria. Ambassador Jović mentioned that the beginning of the work of the consulate is happening at a time when Serbia and Bulgaria are recording the most developed bilateral relations in the common modern history. He also said that this is proof of the two countries firm determination to continue in the same direction, to deepen their ties even more, to enhance cooperation and contribute to the creation of a stable, secure and economically prosperous region through joint efforts. Ambassador Jović estimated that the work and dedicated engagement of the honorary consul will contribute to the development and strengthening of cooperation, primarily in the field of culture and economy.
In addition to the above, the ambassador conveyed to those present the expectation that the consulate premises will be available 24 hours a day to everyone, not only friends from the world of politics and business, but also ordinary people, who should actually be our biggest concern.
After the opening ceremony, an appropriate cultural and artistic program was prepared, in which one of the most dominant places was the Serbian song Tamo daleko, performed by the Plovdiv folklore ensemble Trakija.
